Another film made entirely for women - it is witty, it has great humor and a lot of heart, which means it's cliché, but not brain-freezing stupid. The oh-so incredibly classy Meril Streep and the very manly Alec Baldwin seem to really get it on sexually and psychologically while playing an on-screen divorced couple who after many years apart find their second affection for each other.
It is quite a simple romantic story about love, lust, family values and our psychological goals in life.
I found this film to be very pleasant one to watch, not only because I am familiar with the performances of both of the actors in leading roles, but mostly for the simplicity and lightness of the story told throughout the film. Little do I have to add that among the director Nancy Meyers previous projects, such as 'WHAT WOMEN WANT', 'THE HOLIDAY', 'SOMETHING'S GOTTA GIVE' and 'FATHER OF THE BRIDE', she has developed a certain specific style of visual storytelling that simply lets the audience easily slip into the world of the characters shown on screen.
In conclusion I have to add that 'thank God' the ending was not as one would have had expected to be, but rather a profound try to make the audience stop and think about the subject of the film for a moment or two - that was a clever step to take from the directors/writers point of view.
